Course Description: When the body speaks, what does it say? Our bodies often give us hints or clues about a variety of things that may be happening. It is becoming more and more widely recognized that the body manifests many energetic, emotional, and mental issues out into physical form, often impacting our posture, gait, muscular/skeletal structure, and pretty much all of our bodily systems. While it is important to address what is showing up physically on the massage or bodywork "table," it is equally important to consider that there might be "deeper" things going on.
During this
half-day “experiential” workshop designed for massage and other bodywork therapists, participants learn to apply the Integration/Transformation Approach specifically to physical/somatic patterns that might have deeper energetic, emotional, or mental roots. Using the Five Steps presented in The I/T Approach, An Introduction, we will identify how these patterns manifest in a variety of different ways in the body and how this can impact our work as massage and bodywork therapists. We also will include "table time" to demonstrate how I/T can be integrated seamlessly into massage/bodywork.
Learning Outcomes: The Participant will be able: 1) To identify ways the body might "communicate" through problematic physical/somatic patterns 2) To describe how these patterns can represent underlying energetic, emotional, or mental issues 3) To
demonstrate how the I/T approach can be used to transform these less
effective patterns into more useful possibilities for self and/or
clients or patients
