Prizms offers a variety of "distance" services. These may include counseling, coaching, and consultation, as well as Reiki and other forms of energy work, where the client is not actually present in the office with the therapist. Depending on client needs and what is determined to be therapeutically appropriate, services may be delivered "live" (synchronously) where the therapist schedules and coordinates specific times for interaction with the client. This may include video, audio, or phone communication or instant messaging. Other services may be asynchronous, or delivered through correspondence such as email or text.

Distance services are available for clients located throughout North Carolina. Certain services may be limited in specific other states due to licensing restrictions, so this would need to be determined ahead of time for potential clients in other states.

"Live" Synchronous Distance Modalities
| Video/Audio Chat: Video and/or audio chat sessions are provided using SKYPE technology. Client must have computer with a dedicated internet connection, downloaded SKYPE software, SKYPE account, and camera/microphone/speaker. Setup instructions are available from Prizms staff.

Instant Messaging Chat: Instant messaging sessions also are available using SKYPE technology, where communication is typed back and forth. This may be combined with video and/or audio modalities. See above for setup requirements.

Telephone/Audio Sessions: Distance sessions also may be conducted through use of the telephone, if SKYPE setup is not workable. Land lines are preferable to ensure greater security and confidentiality.

Asynchronous Distance Modalities
| Email or Text: Limited services may be considered using asynchronous, or non-live, modes of delivery, including the use of email or text. Please note that there may be limitations in response time as well as issues related to less-reliable security or confidentiality, so other methods listed above are usually preferred.

Reiki and Energywork Sessions: Reiki and other energywork sessions can be delivered through a variety of synchronous or asynchronous ways. Typically, these sessions do not require direct interaction of the client, although scheduling may be coordinated. This work also may be provided through any of the forms listed above, depending on the situation.
