Course Description
This series is a month-long course in meditation and relaxation featuring a variety of different techniques and practices designed to help participants find what will work best for them. Meditation takes many different forms and comes out of a wide range of different traditions. Some forms of meditation work well for some individuals, and others may not. During this experience, participants are encouraged to try all of the practices to the best of their abilities while determining what may best “fit” their daily needs for relaxation, stress reduction, and finding greater balance. There are no absolute “right” ways to meditate!
In addition to the face-to-face meetings, the course includes thirty days of practical exercises which provides a holistic perspective on meditation, including focus on the Body and Mind (where our outer, more concrete experiences take place) as well as the Soul and Spirit (where we learn to attune to our higher, more balanced Self and ultimately to connect more closely with our collectively shared Divine Spirit). These exercises can be used for developing one’s own meditation practice, and healing professionals also can use the techniques with their own clients or patients.
Learning Outcomes: The Participant:
- Will be able to create a personal working definition for “meditation”;
- Will be able to describe the importance of meditating from a “holistic perspective” including attention to body, mind, soul, and spirit;
- Will be able to experience a variety of different meditation practices; and
- Will be able to explore and determine which meditation practices are a better “fit” for him/herself and how these can be applied to working with others.
