Course Description:
Scars can run deep! Trauma takes many forms, sometimes leaving behind obvious physical scars but often creating more hidden emotional or mental scars. It overloads our “coping” strategies, and we do our best to survive and move on in life, often leaving the trauma unresolved or “trapped” in our bodies and/or minds. How can we develop a different relationship with “trauma” and move forward in healthier ways?
During this half-day “experiential” workshop, participants learn to apply the Integration/Transformation Approach specifically to patterns of trauma, including PTSD. Using the Five Steps presented in The I/T Approach, An Introduction, we will identify more in-depth patterns associated with physical and psychological trauma and how these are manifested in the body, mind, soul, and spirit. Through experiential exercises, we will develop new ways to approach trauma and create possibilities for change.
Learning Outcomes: The Participant will be able:
1) To identify patterns related to physical and psychological trauma, including PTSD
2) To describe how these patterns manifest in body, mind, soul, and spirit
3) To demonstrate how the I/T approach can be used to transform these less effective patterns into more useful possibilities for self and/or clients or patients
