Course Description
This is a certification course covering the third, or Master, level of Reiki, a Japanese traditional technique for reducing stress, relaxing, and promoting healing. Reiki is based on the concept that each of us is a part of a “universal life-force energy.” If our energy is too low or too high, we are more likely to get sick and feel stress; if more balanced and clear, we are more likely to feel healthy and happy. “Reiki” is derived from two Japanese words, “Rei” meaning “God or Universal Wisdom” and “Ki” meaning “life energy.” Together, Reiki is a process of intentionally focusing or allowing energy to be sent or guided to all levels of one’s life, body, mind, soul, and spirit, done for one’s highest sense of good and well-being.
The Reiki III/Master certification class builds on concepts presented in the first two levels and broadens the student’s experience. Specific topics from the previous levels are examined in greater detail and applied to a deeper level of practice. In addition to reviewing the initial three Reiki symbols, the fourth “master” symbol is added to the student’s repertoire of concepts and techniques. Final Reiki attunements, specific research on topics of student interest, and outside practice and reflection also are part of this training.
Learning Outcomes: The Participant:
- Will be able to apply previously learned Reiki concepts and techniques in greater depth;
- Will be able to draw and apply all four Usui-tradition Reiki symbols into their practice;
- Will be able to describe how they they can use Reiki as a stand-alone practice and/or integrate it into other healing modalities; and
- Will be able to complete outside projects related to the training (which may include researching particular related topics of interest, assisting with Reiki I or II classes, and conducting Reiki sessions on others and documenting the experiences).

Students meet with the instructor typically one to two times a month, usually in a one-to-one setting although there may be small group meetings. Twelve CE hours are offered for this level of training, although there will be additional hours outside the face-to-face time involving conducting and documenting Reiki practice sessions, doing research on specific Reiki-related topics, and additional activities (i.e., assisting in a Reiki I or II class) to be determined when the student’s training plan is developed.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Reiki II Certification
Location
Unless noted otherwise, all Reiki classes are held at Prizms Center for MindBody Integration LLC office in downtown Winston-Salem. Directions will be provided when registration is completed.
Other Considerations:
A copy of Reiki Master Manual, including Advanced Reiki Training, written by W.L. Rand, will be provided to participants.
Individuals interested in pursuing the Reiki III/Master Certification Level training should contact Andy Moretz. An interview will be conducted to determine readiness for this level of training and acceptance as a student.
Generally, this level of training is conducted and able to be completed during a six-month period; however, this is not guaranteed. If a student is not making satisfactory progress or if it is deemed that the student needs more time to mature or to complete the process, the time may be extended. If additional face-to-face time is involved, the cost for extended training will be higher. Any alterations will be discussed throughout the process between instructor and student to reach consensus about how best to proceed.
