Course Description: “Frozen in fear!” The “fight or flight” response has a very useful purpose - to help us survive when we are threatened. However, many of us get “stuck” in this survival mode, attempting to live our daily lives either challenging what doesn’t need to be challenged or running away from what does need to be faced. We may even create threats in order to remain in the habitual “comfort” of this pattern. We forget how to return to “relaxation mode” when legitimate threats have passed. How can we find freedom from fear-based patterns?
During this half-day “experiential” workshop, participants learn to apply the Integration/Transformation Approach specifically to fear-based patterns such as anxiety, obsession/compulsion, phobias, and panic disorders. Using the Five Steps presented in The I/T Approach, An Introduction, we will identify more in-depth patterns associated with these fear-based responses and how these are manifested in the body, mind, soul, and spirit. Through experiential exercises, we will develop new ways to approach “fear” and create possibilities for change.
Learning Outcomes: The Participant will be able: 1) To identify patterns related to anxiety and other "fear-based" disorders 2) To describe how these patterns manifest in body, mind, soul, and spirit 3) To demonstrate how the I/T approach can be used to transform these less effective patterns into more useful possibilities for self and/or clients or patients
